Highlights
 

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Ventura has published an Ordinance amending Ventura County Ordinance Code to:

  • prohibit persons from collecting solid waste or operating a solid waste facility without an approved contract or franchise
  • impose restrictions on service contract collectors
  • outline the obligations of contract collectors, facility operators and all other persons subject to the requirements of the Short-Lived Climate Pollutants: Organic Waste Reduction regulations
  • further outline obligations of single-family dwellings, commercial and residential organic waste generators, self-haulers, commercial edible food generators and food recovery organizations and services
  • waive the requirements for commercial generators to comply with the provisions, subject to conditions
  • empower any contract collectors to bring an action against any persons in the business of collection of solid waste
  • require directors to develop a list of recyclables generated by residential and commercial generators
  • clarify the pricing incentives for residential and commercial waste diversion and
  • outline the enforcement process for non-compliance with the provisions.
