Highlights
The City Council of the City of Long Beach has published an Ordinance amending the Long Beach Municipal Code to:
- outline the requirements for receptacles or bins
- outline the obligations of property owners or occupants, single-family and multi-family generators, commercial edible food generators, food recovery organizations and services, haulers, facility operators and community composting operators
- impose additional requirements on commercial solid waste collection service
- impose collection charges on waste services
- clarify that the applicants for construction or demolition permits for a covered project must submit a waste management plan
- waive the requirements of generators from their obligations, subject to conditions
- outline the enforcement process for non-compliance with the provisions
- require applicants for construction and building additions and alternations to comply with the CalGreen recycling requirements and
- require persons constructing a new project with a landscape area greater than 500 square feet to comply with the Model Water Efficient Landscaping Ordinance.
