Newport Beach: Ordinance No. 2021-25 (Garbage, Refuse and Cuttings and State Mandated Municipal Solid Waste)

Highlights

The City Council of the City of Newport Beach has published an Ordinance amending the Newport Beach Municipal Code to:

  • prohibit unauthorised persons to collect solid waste and divertible materials
  • outline the container requirements for solid waste and divertible materials 
  • clarify the manner of storage and placement of containers or bulky items, bins and wheeled carts
  • empower authorities to administer collection services
  • outline the obligations of commercial and single-family generators
  • prohibit the use of green and wood waste as alternative daily cover
  • waive the requirements for certain generators to comply with the provisions and
  • require property owners to comply with the Model Water Efficient Landscaping Ordinance.
