Texas code on motor vehicle air pollution amended

Texas: Amendments to chapter 114 of the Texas Administrative Code concerning Control of Air Pollution from Motor Vehicles

Highlights

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has published a Notice amending the Texas Transportation Code to, amongst other things: 

  • clarify that a vehicle registration insignia sticker is one that is attached to the vehicle's windshield
  • remove the requirement for the vehicle registration insignia sticker to be affixed to the windshield 
  • provide for different proofs of compliance with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles' inspection and maintenance standards and
  • clarify that the adopted rulemaking will not negatively impact the state's progress towards attainment of the 2008 and 2015 eight-hour ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards.
