San Mateo County, CA: Ord 4860 - food packaging and single use plastics

Highlights
 

The Board of Supervisors of the County Of San Mateo of the State of California has published an Ordinance under the San Mateo County Ordinance Code to:

  • reduce single-use plastic and other food service ware waste
  • mandate that no person shall sell any food packaging that contains regulated perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances
  • set out regulations for the distribution of disposable food service ware accessories and standard condiments
  • detail the standards and requirements for use of disposable food service ware
  • confirm that an exemption from any of the provisions of this Chapter may be granted by the County Manager and
  • require that food facilities keep information on records for inspection.
