City of Santa Clarita Ordinance - integrated waste management

Highlights

The City Council of Santa Clarita has issued an Ordinance amending the Santa Clarita Municipal Code to:

  • outline the requirements for commercial edible food generators, food recovery organizations and services and franchised collectors 
  • require generators to comply with the applicable requirements unless they get an exemption and meet self-hauler requirements
  • impose fees upon solid waste enterprises and service recipients for planning, developing and administering waste management programs
  • require waste collectors to arrange for the manner of waste collection, subject to conditions
  • outline the specific requirements for collection vehicles 
  • require persons handling solid waste to immediately clean up any solid waste during the collection, removal or transfer of waste
  • outline a list of prohibited acts
  • empower authorities to conduct random inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with the chapter and
  • outline the enforcement process for non-compliance with the provisions.
