Arkansas: Rule 18 Arkansas Air Pollution Control Code

Highlights

The Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission has published a Code amending the Arkansas Air Pollution Control Code to:

  • outline the permit requirements for persons who operate, construct or modify the stationary sources 
  • prohibit visible emissions from exceeding the specified limitations
  • require persons who own or operate motor vehicles to keep the mobile equipment in good condition
  • prohibit open burning and the emission of air contaminants 
  • empower the Division to sample, monitor and report at stationary sources, and prescribe restrictive air quality control requirements 
  • outline the enforcement actions for violation of the Code
  • prohibit unauthorised installations that dilute or conceal emissions without reducing the number of contaminants
  • specify the administrative process for applicants dealing with confidential information and
  • outline a list of insignificant activities in Appendix A and National Ambient Air Quality Standards for various types of pollutants in Appendix B.
