Highlights

The City Council of the City of Alameda has issued an Ordinance amending Alameda Municipal Code to:

  • set out requirements for the collection and removal of solid waste, recyclable and organic materials
  • outline the obligations of single-family and multi-plex generators, commercial business and multi-family generators
  • outline obligations for commercial edible food generators, food recovery organisations and services, self-haulers, franchisee and permittee
  • provide a list of prohibited acts in relation to dumping and depositing waste 
  • outline the requirements for facility operators and community composting operations
  • clarify that the City Council may enter into Franchise Agreements for the collection and disposal of waste 
  • clarify that all projects must comply with the waste management plans and
  • outline the permit requirements for the collection and hauling of recyclable and organic materials.
