Marin County: Ordinance amending Marin County Code (Health and Sanitation, waste and recycling)

Highlights

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Marin has issued an Ordinance amending the Marine County Code to:

  • prohibit the accumulation of any windblown solid waste, leaving solid waste for longer than 30 days, and disposing of waste 
  • outline the requirements for residential and commercial generators, self-haulers, and organic waste facilities
  • waive the requirements for certain generators to comply with the provisions
  • require persons to store solid waste properly in collection containers
  • prohibit persons from managing solid waste without entering into a franchise agreement
  • empower the authorities to conduct inspections and investigations in any waste management facilities 
  • require operators of solid waste management to maintain operating records and reports and
  • outline provisions for the theft of recyclable materials.
